Surrounded by high society with its pomps and glory, this young saint's life is a beautiful example of spiritual strength. Keeping his soul focused on the everlasting riches of virtue and holiness, he surmounted the worldly attractions of wealth and splendor, even giving up his inheritance. Leaving one of the richest families of the time, he joined the newly founded Society of Jesus and died at a young age from the plague.
