In 1884, at an apparition of Our Lady of Pompeii at Naples, Mary made known the manner in which the Rosary was to be invoked for important need. "Whoever desires to obtain favors from me," she stated, "shall recite three novenas of the prayers of the Rosary, and three novenas in thanksgiving." Today this is known as the 54-day Rosary Novena.
