A unique figurine-statue of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, the Lily of the Mohawks. Kateri stands in her imitation suede Mohawk dress and holds in her hands a cross made from twigs. She has an amazing story and is known for having preserved her virtue of chastity despite wicked surroundings. Saint Kateri was shunned by some of her tribe for her conversion to Catholicism and after moving to the Catholic mission was known for her mortification of the flesh. Her name, Kateri, is the Mohawk form of Catherine, which she took from St. Catherine of Siena. Saint Kateri Tekakwitha was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI on Oct. 21, 2012.
